Your students’ work, in plain language.
A teacher-toned summary of how Markscanner treats the work you and your students put into it. The formal version lives on the privacy policy page. This page is the short, no-jargon version.
Your students' work stays yours.
Only you can see the submissions you upload. Other teachers using Markscanner can't see them. We can't either, except when you ask us to help with something specific.
We don't sell your data. Ever.
Not to advertisers, not to AI training companies, not to anyone. Your roster, your students' work, and your grading output are not products we sell.
The AI doesn't keep your students' work.
When we send a scanned page to the AI for grading, the AI sees it once and forgets it. We use the paid API tiers and configure the available settings so your content isn't used to train any model — ours, or theirs.
You can delete anything, anytime.
A class, an assessment, an individual student, a single submission — gone when you say so. No support ticket required.
You can leave with your data.
Export everything as CSV or PDF whenever you want. We don't trap you in. If you cancel, your account stays exportable for at least 30 days before anything is removed.
If you use "Try it out" — the same posture applies.
When you use Try it out to send us a sample, your materials are used only to produce your sample results. We don’t train any AI on them, we don’t share them with anyone else unless you opt in to letting us show anonymised snippets (student names redacted), and we delete them within 30 days of sending your results back unless you ask us to keep them.

Honest disclaimer
Markscanner is a small operation in early days. We don’t have a SOC 2 report, a 200-page security questionnaire response, or a dedicated compliance team yet. We use sensible defaults (encryption in transit and at rest, scoped database access, paid AI-API tiers with training disabled), and we’re happy to walk you through any specific concern.
If your district or board requires formal security audits or signed data-processing agreements, please get in touch and we’ll talk about what’s realistic at our stage.
Still have questions?
Email [email protected] and we’ll reply. If you’d rather see Markscanner work on your own quiz before getting into the privacy weeds, the “Try it out” page is the quickest way.
